Many standard cylinders can be picked or bypassed without damage. High-security cylinders such as Medeco or Mul-T-Lock are designed to resist picking, so entry may take longer or require drilling and a replacement cylinder — we explain that before any work begins.
Proof of residence
For your safety, the locksmith will ask for ID or other proof that you live at the address before or right after opening the door.
If the key is lost
If your keys are gone rather than locked inside, consider rekeying so the old key no longer works. It usually costs less than replacing the whole lock.
