Locksmith Work for Lawful NYC Evictions
Our role, and what it is not
The Marshal or Sheriff conducts the eviction. Our part is limited to coordinating the scheduled visit, identifying the entrance locks involved, and rekeying or replacing the authorized locks as directed during the lawful process. We do not issue warrants, decide who has possession, remove occupants or belongings, or carry out an eviction on our own.
What does not count as authorization
A landlord’s request, a notice to the occupant, or a pending court case is not authorization for us to lock anyone out. We don’t do self-help lockouts and don’t change locks before the authorized officer directs the work. If the officer does not proceed at the scheduled time, the lock work does not proceed either.
What to have ready when you call
The property address and unit; the Marshal’s or Sheriff’s office coordinating the execution; the scheduled date and time; which doors and locks are involved; and the name of the person authorized to approve the locksmith work on the owner’s behalf. Availability is confirmed for each appointment; we can’t promise a particular day or a same-day eviction.
Rekey or replace on the day
If the existing locks work well, rekeying changes the key so old copies stop working. A worn or damaged lock, or a door the owner wants upgraded, may need a lock change instead.
